European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen published a message praising the efforts of the teams fighting the wildfires.

Expressing her gratitude to the countries that contributed, von der Leyen said, "From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank the brave teams from Portugal, Czechia, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Croatia, Germany, Slovakia, and Türkiye who were sent to France and Spain to fight the fires."

Describing the joint effort as an example of unity and solidarity, von der Leyen stated, "This is the best example of solidarity from across the EU and beyond. The courage and dedication of these firefighters remind us that we are stronger when we stand together."
