WHO: Global food systems are harming people and the planet
Geneva, October 4 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the findings of The Lancet EAT 2.0 Commission revealed that current global food systems are unjust, insufficient for human health, and damaging to the environment.
Tedros noted that WHO is working with countries to transform food environments, reduce harmful marketing targeting children, and address the growing impact of ultra-processed foods.
He also congratulated Sweden, host of the EAT Forum, for its leadership on sustainable food systems.
