Zelensky meets with IMF Managing Director Georgieva
Kyiv, January 15 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that they are working on a new financing program with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva to strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s economy.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva to review Ukraine’s current economic situation and future financing plans.
Thanking the IMF for its contributions to Ukraine’s economy and resilience, Zelensky said: “I thanked her for the attention shown to Ukraine and for the programs that help strengthen our economy and resilience. This is especially important at a time when Russian attacks and severe winter conditions are creating serious challenges.”
Zelensky noted that he briefed Georgieva on Russia’s attacks on strategic targets, stating: “I informed her about Russia’s attacks on our energy sector, all critical infrastructure, and residential buildings. We discussed the preparation of a new program that would provide expanded financing for the period 2026–2029.”
Zelensky added that they appreciate the IMF’s willingness to continue its support, saying: “We value the IMF’s readiness to continue supporting Ukraine and to work toward the implementation of the new financing program.”
