Zelensky: We are working on a free trade agreement with Serbia
Kyiv, August 8 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said they discussed cooperation with Serbia in the fields of infrastructure, economy, energy and reconstruction, announcing that they aim to finalize the free trade agreement by the end of the year.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that during his two days of talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, they discussed issues related to developing cooperation between the two countries. Zelensky stated that they are carrying out concrete work to strengthen port and railway infrastructure, promote economic development and reconstruction, and create jobs in Ukraine and Serbia.
Zelensky said they are working to finalize the agreement on establishing a free trade area between the two countries by the end of the year. He added that the talks also addressed energy challenges expected during the coming winter, noting that most of Ukraine's thermal power plants have been rendered inoperable as a result of Russian attacks.
Emphasizing that energy cooperation is of great importance to Ukraine, Zelensky announced that Serbia will provide a new humanitarian aid package, particularly in the areas of healthcare and energy. Zelensky also said that Ukraine supports accelerating Serbia's European Union accession process.
