Canberra, June 22 (Hibya) - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese issued a message following the resignation of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, stating that he considers Starmer a friend and that he can be proud of his contributions to his country.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese released a statement following British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's decision to leave Downing Street, highlighting the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Stating that Starmer was going through a difficult day, Albanese said: "I consider Keir Starmer a friend, and this must be a very difficult day for him. I am thinking of him. Serving in public life is an enormous privilege, but politics can also be a tough business."
Referring to Starmer's political career and achievements, Albanese said: "When the time came for Keir to leave Downing Street, he could be proud of his contributions to the country he loves and to the Labor Party that he returned to power in 2024."
Highlighting the global projects they worked on together, Albanese stated: "I am grateful that we found opportunities to work together to strengthen our AUKUS defense and security partnership, support the brave people of Ukraine, and protect children from the harms that social media can cause."
Albanese concluded by extending his best wishes to his former counterpart and his family, saying: "I wish Keir, Victoria, and their children every success in whatever lies ahead."
