Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi expressed his sorrow over the disaster in Japan and, on behalf of the Iranian government and people, extended his condolences and wishes for a speedy recovery.

Referring to the devastation caused by the earthquake, Araghchi said: "We are deeply saddened by the extensive destruction caused by the earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture. On behalf of the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to the victims and their families."

Araghchi concluded his message by saying: "We pray for the souls of those who lost their lives to rest in peace, for the injured to recover swiftly, and for the affected areas to be repaired and rebuilt as soon as possible."
