Indexes on U.S. stock markets ended the day higher.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.24 percent to 48,578.72 points, while the S&P 500 gained 0.26 percent to reach 7,041.28 points. The Nasdaq index also continued its rise, climbing 0.36 percent to 24,102.704 points.

The Russell 2000 index, which includes small-cap companies, rose 0.22 percent to 2,719.602 points.

The VIX index, followed as an indicator of market volatility, fell 1.27 percent to 17.94.

Overall, the picture indicated rising risk appetite in U.S. markets and the preservation of a positive trend in the indexes.
