Berendsen meets Saudi Foreign Minister Al Saud
Riyadh, April 23 (Hibya) - Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen met in Riyadh with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss Iran-related regional tensions, developments in Syria and Sudan, and navigation security in the Strait of Hormuz.
Berendsen met with his Saudi counterpart Al Saud in the capital Riyadh as part of his official engagements.
In a statement following the meeting, Berendsen said: “Thank you for the warm welcome in Riyadh. It was a good opportunity to personally convey our solidarity after Iran’s indiscriminate attacks in the region.”
The meeting focused on regional security issues, with the parties particularly evaluating diplomatic solutions following Iran-related tensions. The importance of ensuring free and safe maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz was also emphasized.
The parties also discussed recent developments in Syria and Sudan, exchanged views on regional crises, and agreed to continue cooperation.
Berendsen added: “We had a good discussion on efforts to reach a diplomatic solution. We stressed the urgency of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. We exchanged views on regional developments, including Syria and Sudan, and reaffirmed our commitment to our partnership.”
