Vilnius, October 26 (Hibya) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys, while discussing the priorities of the 2027 presidency of the Council of the European Union, emphasized the need to increase defense investments, tighten sanctions against Russia and maintain support for Ukraine.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys discussed Lithuania's priorities for its 2027 presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) during a meeting with Chris Cutojar. Budrys stated that Europe must be built on stronger defense capabilities, border security and resilience.
Noting that hybrid attacks, sabotage, Global Positioning System (GPS) signal jamming and the instrumentalization of migration are testing Europe's resolve, Budrys called for increased defense investments, tougher sanctions against Russia and a united approach to European security.
Budrys emphasized that Ukraine is defending Europe today and that this reality must be met with a stronger security policy.
