Canada emphasizes support for the African Continental Free Trade Area
Ottawa, May 6 (Hibya) – Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand met with African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretary-General Wamkele Mene to assess how Canada can contribute to the implementation of the largest free trade area in Africa.
Anand held an important diplomatic engagement within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), which aims to accelerate economic integration across the African continent.
In her meeting with AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene, Anand discussed the process of implementing the world’s largest free trade area.
The meeting evaluated how Canada can play a role in supporting inclusive economic growth in Africa and strengthening new trade and investment opportunities. Increasing Canadian companies’ access to African markets and deepening economic cooperation were also highlighted.
