Carney stated that interest among male and female candidates in joining the military is steadily increasing, saying, “The number of women and men applying to join the Canadian Armed Forces is rising continuously.”

He also noted that, following a decision taken last year, they have redirected investments into the defense sector, adding, “We decided to reinvest in order to rebuild and equip our forces.”

Carney said the process is yielding positive results, stating, “We are making rapid progress and seeing the results.” As an example of recent achievements, he shared that “the highest number of recruitments in more than 30 years has been reached.”
