Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that although more than 100,000 new apprenticeship registrations were recorded in the country in 2024, only around 34,000 people completed their training.

Carney said that under the Team Canada Strong program, apprentices will receive an additional $400 per week throughout their training, while those who complete their apprenticeship by obtaining the Red Seal certification will receive a $5,000 completion bonus.

The statement noted that these incentives are intended to encourage more young people to complete their vocational training and enter the workforce more quickly.
