CENTCOM: 30 commercial vessels redirected under Iran blockade
Washington, August 1 (Hibya) – United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that 30 commercial vessels had been redirected as part of the naval blockade on Iran, two vessels had been neutralized, and boarding operations had been conducted on two vessels.
According to a CENTCOM statement, the US Navy guided-missile destroyer USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112) continues to support blockade operations in regional waters, while an MH-60R Sea Hawk helicopter operating from the vessel has also been prepared for flight as part of the operations.
The statement said that as of July 31, 30 commercial vessels had been redirected to enforce the blockade, two vessels had been neutralized, and boarding operations had been conducted on two vessels. It also noted that approximately 30 vessels carrying humanitarian aid had been allowed to pass through the blockade.
