Costa: I strongly condemn this violation of international law
Brussels, May 29 (Hibya) - President of the European Council Antonio Costa made a statement regarding the security of the Union’s borders and escalating tensions after a Russian drone targeted a residential building in Romania.
President of the European Council Antonio Costa delivered a message of support to the people of Romania.
Referring to the situation in the affected area, Costa said: "Following the incident in which a Russian drone struck a residential building in Galați and injured civilians, I express full solidarity and support for Romania."
Drawing attention to violations of international law, Costa stated: "Russia's escalation on EU territory is reckless and irresponsible. I strongly condemn this violation of Romania's national airspace and of international law."
Speaking about the common stance within the Union and future measures, Costa said: "The EU is united in increasing pressure on Russia through sanctions and strengthening its defense capabilities, particularly along our eastern border."
