European Council President Antonio Costa stated that the Council welcomes the decision to approve the EU–Mercosur Agreement. Emphasizing that the agreement is good for Europe, Costa said:
“It delivers real benefits for European consumers and businesses. This agreement is important for the EU’s sovereignty and strategic autonomy; through it, the EU is shaping the global economy.
