Costa: We thank Spain and international partners for the hantavirus response
Brussels, May 11 (Hibya) - European Council President Antonio Costa praised the coordinated response of Spain and international institutions to the hantavirus case and emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation.
Costa published a message of support and thanks to the Spanish government and international partners for the response process carried out regarding the hantavirus case.
Costa stated that conducting the process in close cooperation with the World Health Organization and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control constituted an example of effective multilateral coordination against health emergencies.
The statement emphasized that the safety of the passengers and crew on board was the priority and noted that most of them were from European Union member states.
Costa also congratulated the Spanish authorities and all teams working on the ground for the rapid and orderly evacuation operations carried out in Tenerife. It was stated that the response demonstrated the effectiveness of international cooperation.
