Dar congratulates new OIC Secretary-General Ahmed
Islamabad, August 27 (Hibya) - Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his unanimous election as Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Dar expressed his pleasure at Ahmed's election as the new Secretary-General during the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers held in Jeddah today. In his message, Dar said, “I wish him success in strengthening Islamic unity, peace and collective action toward our shared goals.”
Dar said he looked forward to working closely with Ahmed and expressed hope for strengthening partnerships within the Islamic world and advancing constructive cooperation. Dar wished for Ahmed's tenure to contribute to strengthening the OIC as a “platform for cooperative dialogue and collective action”.
Dar also expressed hope that Ahmed's tenure would bring “renewed energy and dynamism” to the OIC.
