Decline dominates US stock markets
Istanbul, May 20 (Hibya) - A bearish trend was observed in US markets during the trading day of the week. Pullbacks were seen in the indices as investors focused on Nvidia’s upcoming financial results.
A negative trend was observed in US markets during the trading day of the week. The main indices ended the day lower, while the fear index (VIX) recorded an increase.
The Dow Jones (DJIA) index fell 0.65 percent to 49,363.88 points. The S&P 500 index lost 0.67 percent, dropping to 7,353.61 points.
The Nasdaq index, heavily weighted toward technology stocks, traded down 0.84 percent at 25,870.71 points, while the Russell 2000 (RUSS 2K) index reached 2,747.074 points with a loss of 1.01 percent.
The VIX index, which measures market volatility, rose 1.35 percent to 18.06 points.
