EU announces humanitarian aid budget
Brussels, January 21 (Hibya) – The European Union (EU) Commission announced that it has allocated a humanitarian aid budget of 1.9 billion euros for 2026 in response to growing global humanitarian needs.
The European Commission announced a 1.9 billion euro humanitarian aid budget for 2026 at a time when 239 million people worldwide are in need of humanitarian assistance.
Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated in Davos that this budget commitment aims to mobilize private sector investments and innovative financing solutions to complement public resources.
Emphasizing that the EU is one of the world’s leading humanitarian donors, Lahbib said, “Public resources alone will not be sufficient to address the scale of the crisis. That is why we also need the support of the private sector.”
