New York, August 27 (Hibya) - Tom Fletcher, head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), announced that emergency teams have been mobilized following the severe flooding in Nepal.

Fletcher said assessments of the situation are continuing and teams are being kept on standby for new developments, adding that they are in close contact with Nepalese authorities and regional partners.
Fletcher announced that he had initially allocated $2 million from the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), saying the support would be used for life-saving efforts by providing emergency medical care, shelter and clean water.
