Ghebreyesus: Malnutrition is causing an increase in hunger-related deaths
Geneva, July 29 (Hibya) – WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warns that the worst-case scenario of famine is occurring in Gaza.
Ghebreyesus said, “The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warns: the worst-case scenario of famine is happening in Gaza.”
He noted that mass hunger, malnutrition, and disease are contributing to a rise in hunger-related deaths and that the WHO is calling for urgent large-scale delivery of food and medical aid to Gaza.
