U.S. President Trump stated that Iran has caused instability for many years, saying: “Great things are happening right before your eyes. For 47 years Iran has done many bad things and you see what I see. This is being watched all around the world.”

Stating that Iran carried out missile attacks against its neighbors, Trump said: “Iran is firing its missiles at its neighbors; some of them are countries that are our allies. Since we knew they were going to do this, we couldn’t wait any longer.”

Trump said that the United States considers Iran’s nuclear activities a serious threat, adding: “I use the phrase largely eliminated because they had nuclear potential and we were taking it very seriously. If we had not carried out this attack, they would have had nuclear weapons within two weeks.”

Emphasizing that Iran obtaining nuclear weapons could have serious consequences, Trump said: “If they had gotten their hands on nuclear weapons, they could have done very bad things with them.”

Trump stressed that the military strength of the U.S. armed forces has been clearly demonstrated by recent operations and said:

“At the beginning of my first term we took very strong steps to rebuild our military and now we are seeing the results. Just like the steps we took in Venezuela, after Maduro left we now have great relations with the current administration. Millions of barrels of oil are now flowing to global markets. They are doing better than ever before and this is making life much better for the Venezuelan people.”
