Guterres: Food is a fundamental human right
New York, October 19 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the global food system is under severe pressure and that hunger persists at unacceptable levels, calling for concrete action to establish sustainable, healthy and equitable food systems.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres drew attention to the challenges facing the global food system and the continuing hunger crisis.
In a statement posted on social media, Guterres said that despite decades of progress, the global food system remained under enormous pressure and hunger continued at unacceptable levels.
Emphasizing that food is a fundamental human right, Guterres called for collective commitments to be translated into concrete action to deliver sustainable, healthy and equitable food systems for everyone.
