Ten suspects detained in operation linked to violence in Israel
Jerusalem, October 19 (Hibya) - Israeli police reported that 10 suspects had been detained in an operation launched following allegations of attacks on a foreign journalist and foreign diplomats in the West Bank over the weekend.
According to a statement from Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs citing the Israeli Police Spokesperson's Unit, an operation named "Olive Branch" was conducted as part of an investigation into violent incidents in the West Bank over the weekend. Ten suspects were detained during the operation and taken to police facilities for questioning.
The operation, carried out before dawn at various locations in the Binyamin area, involved personnel from the Israeli police, the Israel Security Agency, Border Police and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). During the operation, several items believed to be connected to the suspects were seized, and a number of vehicles were impounded.
The investigation was reportedly launched following alleged attacks targeting a foreign journalist and foreign diplomats near the village of Taybeh. The suspects were detained on suspicion of involvement in violent incidents, violating a military commander's order declaring a closed military zone, and illegal construction.
Israeli police stated that the suspects would be brought before a court following questioning, depending on the findings of the investigation. West Bank District Commander Moshe Pinchi said the operation aimed to apprehend suspects linked to the incidents, while Israeli Police Commissioner Daniel Levy emphasized that the law applies to everyone and that the investigation would be conducted based on evidence.
