Jerusalem, April 3 (Hibya) - Israeli President Isaac Herzog stated that during his conversation with Pope Leo XIV, they discussed regional security issues, the war with Iran, and the safety of Christian communities in Lebanon.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog shared details of his phone call with Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of Passover and Easter.
Providing information about the content of the conversation, Herzog said: "This morning, I spoke with Pope Leo XIV on the occasion of Passover and Easter. I conveyed my greetings to Christian communities in Israel and around the world, and we expressed our shared hope that people of all faiths can have a better future."
Stating that regional conflicts and the safety of faith communities were the main topics on the agenda, Herzog said: "We discussed the war with Iran and missile attacks targeting citizens of all religions in Israel and across the region, as well as the situation in Lebanon and the importance of the safety of Christian communities on both sides of the border."
Emphasizing diplomatic and religious cooperation, Herzog concluded his statement by saying: "I highlighted the importance Israel attaches to its ties with the Holy See and the Christian world, as well as the need for active cooperation among world and religious leaders in combating antisemitism."
