Hong Kong marks the 29th anniversary of its return to the motherland with a flag-raising ceremony
Beijing, July 1 (Hibya) - The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square to mark the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
According to CCTV, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held a flag-raising ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square to mark the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Leung Chun-ying, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, and representatives of various institutions.
During the ceremony, held to the accompaniment of the national anthem, the national and regional flags were raised. Participants stood in respect and sang the national anthem.
As part of the event, helicopters flew over Victoria Harbour displaying flags, while fire services in the harbor performed a water salute.
In addition, various central government offices in Hong Kong and the People's Liberation Army garrison also held separate flag-raising ceremonies to commemorate the anniversary.
