Israel reacts to antisemitic incidents in Italy
Jerusalem, May 4 (Hibya) - Israel drew attention to the rise in antisemitic incidents in Italy and called on authorities to act swiftly to identify those responsible and protect the Jewish community.
In a statement, Israel condemned death threats directed at its Honorary Consul Marco Carrai.
The statement highlighted the increase in antisemitic incidents across Italy, citing attacks against Jews in the streets of Milan, the vandalism of Holocaust memorials, and damage to “Stolpersteine” stones placed in memory of Jews sent to Nazi camps.
Israel expressed confidence that Italian authorities would act quickly and decisively to identify those responsible, protect the Jewish community, and take the necessary steps to combat antisemitism.
The statement also stressed the need for “zero tolerance” toward antisemitism in Europe.
