Israeli negotiators recalled from Qatar
Stockholm, March 27 (Hibia) – Israel recalled negotiators from Qatar, claiming Hamas was 'not interested' in the talks and complaining about the "damage" caused by the UN ceasefire vote.
Israel withdrew its negotiating team from Qatar and immediately put an end to attempts to reach a ceasefire and hostage release agreement with Hamas. Israel's move came after the UN Security Council voted to demand a ceasefire and Hamas rejected the latest proposals.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said in a statement that "Israel will not bow to Hamas' imaginary demands" and that Hamas's stance was "clear evidence that it is not interested in continuing negotiations and a sad testimony to the damage caused by the UN Security Council resolution."
Late on Monday evening, Hamas had issued a statement rejecting the latest deal offer, saying it did not respond to Israel's basic demands of "a comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, return of displaced persons and a genuine prisoner exchange".
