Dutch Prime Minister Jetten spoke by phone with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Emphasizing that the friendship between Canada and the Netherlands has a strong and deep-rooted history, Jetten said: “Canadians played a critical role in the liberation of our country. More than one million people of Dutch origin live in Canada.”

Noting that the two countries also cooperate closely on the international stage, Jetten stated: “We act closely together on international platforms, especially within NATO and in our support for Ukraine. The war in Iran and its effects on the region and the world seriously concern both of us.”

Highlighting that they will continue to closely monitor the situation and seek solutions, Jetten said: “At the same time, the war in Ukraine remains at the center of our agenda. We also evaluated opportunities to increase cooperation in security, defense industry, energy, and trade.”
