Kallas: Jordan is one of the EU's closest partners in the Middle East
Amman, June 23 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated that she held meetings with her counterparts from the Arab League, emphasizing Jordan's importance for regional stability and the EU partnership.
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas made remarks regarding her high-level meetings in Amman, the U.S.-Iran peace talks, and developments in Lebanon.
Referring to diplomatic relations with Jordan and regional issues, Kallas said: "Jordan is a pillar of stability and one of the EU's closest and most reliable partners in the Middle East. Together with Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, we discussed the U.S.-Iran peace talks and how the current ceasefire can be transformed into a more lasting peace."
Drawing attention to the fragile situation in Lebanon and the EU's initiatives concerning the country, Kallas stated: "In Lebanon, Israel and Hezbollah are trapped in a dangerous cycle of attacks, counterattacks, and fragile ceasefires."
Kallas concluded her statement by saying: "Together with Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, we reviewed the EU's support for the Lebanese Armed Forces and efforts to establish a new EU mission in the country."
