Kallas: Use of the Oreshnik missile is a warning to the US
Brussels, January 9 (Hibya) – The European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, said that Russia’s use of the Oreshnik missile carries a warning message.
Kaja Kallas commented on Russia’s escalating attacks against Ukraine and the use of new munitions.
Criticizing Russia’s stance, Kallas said: “Putin does not want peace; Russia’s response to diplomacy is more missiles and destruction. This deadly cycle of repeated large-scale attacks by Russia will continue until Ukraine is helped to break it.”
Referring to the global implications of the use of the Oreshnik missile, Kallas stated: “Reports of Russia using the Oreshnik missile constitute a clear escalation against Ukraine and a warning to Europe and the United States.”
Calling on the European Union to take concrete steps, Kallas concluded: “EU countries must examine their air defense stocks more thoroughly and deliver them immediately. We must also further increase the cost of this war for Moscow, including through tougher sanctions.”
