Lahbib: Two Red Cross volunteers lost their lives in Congo
Brussels, June 24 (Hibya) - European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib issued a statement following the deaths of two Red Cross volunteers serving in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
European Union (EU) Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib stated that two Red Cross volunteers were killed while carrying out their duties in the South Kivu region.
Emphasizing that the incident once again highlights the risks faced by humanitarian workers in the field, Lahbib said, “This incident is a painful reminder of the risks humanitarian workers face.”
