European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.

Regarding the meeting, Leyen said: "Welcome to Brussels, dear Martin. I’m truly excited about our cooperation. In our meeting, we discussed some of the most pressing issues of our time — from enhancing Europe's competitiveness and strengthening the single market, to advancing trade and supporting Europe’s strategic industries. We also addressed the serious geopolitical challenges unfolding in Ukraine and the Middle East. With your upcoming Council Presidency during this critical period for Europe, your leadership will be crucial in shaping our European response to these challenges."
