In the United Kingdom, the FTSE 100 index rose 0.30 percent to 10,529.39 points, while Italy's FTSE MIB index gained 0.10 percent to 52,862.50 points.
Meanwhile, the pan-European STOXX Europe 600 Index, Germany's DAX Index and France's CAC 40 Index ended the day little changed.
