Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi people on the occasion of Saudi Arabia's National Day.

Sharif said Saudi Arabia's journey of progress and transformation is also a source of pride and appreciation for Pakistan.

Stating that relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are based on historic and strong ties, Sharif said that under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, relations between the two countries have evolved into a stronger strategic partnership.

Sharif recalled that the Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement and the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement were signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement was signed by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan on August 7, 2026. Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the three countries is considered an attack against all of them.

Sharif also condemned the recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, stating that the attempted drone attack, which was reportedly directed particularly at Mecca, was unacceptable.

Sharif said Pakistan stands by Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty and security, as well as safeguarding the security of Islam's holy sites, and expressed hope that Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations would continue to strengthen.
