Palestinian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Shahin met in Ramallah with Cuong, Vietnam's non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the State of Palestine.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Palestine and Vietnam, as well as developments in Palestine.

Minister Shahin expressed appreciation for Vietnam's supportive stance toward the State of Palestine in international forums and for the humanitarian assistance it provides to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Shahin called for continued support for UNRWA due to the essential services it provides to Palestinian refugees.

Shahin briefed the ambassador on developments in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem. The meeting reportedly addressed the war and humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, settler attacks and pressure on Palestinians in the West Bank, as well as policies in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian minister called on Vietnam to continue supporting the rights of the Palestinian people in international forums and to work toward translating international positions into concrete action on the ground.

The importance of strengthening relations between the two countries in various fields, particularly education, agriculture and capacity building, was also highlighted.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Nam Cuong said his country's supportive stance toward the State of Palestine and the rights of the Palestinian people would continue. Cuong stated that the historic relations between the two countries should be transformed into more comprehensive bilateral cooperation, adding that relations could be further developed through the signing of memoranda of understanding in various fields.

Cuong also expressed Vietnam's readiness to participate in efforts to reconstruct the Gaza Strip once the situation in the region stabilizes.
