Ukraine: Russia destroyed more than 10 million books in one summer
Kyiv, August 30 (Hibya) - Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that more than 10 million books were destroyed in the country this summer as a result of Russian attacks.
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the country's book industry suffered severe damage as a result of Russian attacks.
According to the ministry, 8 million books were destroyed in an attack on a publishing house in Kharkiv. More than 620,000 of those books were reported to be school textbooks.
In the latest attack in the Kyiv region, warehouses containing books belonging to numerous Ukrainian publishing houses were struck, destroying more than 60,000 books.
The statement said that at least 21 attacks have targeted the country's book industry since Russia launched its full-scale war against Ukraine. This summer alone, more than 30 Ukrainian publishing houses lost books, raw materials or works that were in production.
Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued that the attacks also targeted the country's infrastructure for access to literature, language and knowledge, and stated that Ukrainian culture would continue to endure.
