Palestine: We are following with concern the smear campaigns targeting our embassies
Ramallah, February 6 (Hibya) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned organized smear campaigns conducted via fake social media pages targeting embassies and diplomats, and announced that it will exercise its legal rights.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stated that it is following with deep concern the organized campaigns of defamation and insults targeting its embassies worldwide and the ministry itself. The statement emphasized that the aim of fake social media pages is “to discredit embassies and ambassadors and to harm their national and personal status.”
The ministry noted that these campaigns seek to cast a shadow over the Palestinian people’s efforts to attain their rights, freedom, and independence during a sensitive period. The statement said: “The Palestine Liberation Organization, political forces, and all institutions and segments of society are making intensive efforts, both domestically and abroad, for the legitimate rights of our people.”
Following the directives of President Mahmoud Abbas, the ministry and embassies continue their work on international political and diplomatic platforms to elevate the Palestinian national cause and make all its dimensions visible. The statement added that diplomatic staff strengthen Palestine’s diplomatic representation and increase international recognition, noting that “all our diplomats have played an important role in shedding light on Palestine’s political and diplomatic history.”
The ministry also emphasized the following:
“It reserves its legal and ethical rights to defend itself, its embassies, and its staff, and will pursue these attacks before judicial authorities. All attacks and incitement against embassies and their staff further strengthen the determination to continue diplomatic efforts to achieve legitimate national goals.”
