Qatar participated in various high-level meetings and events in New York as part of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly.

Qatar’s Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, represented Qatar at the joint ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Al Khulaifi emphasized the importance of strengthening and coordinating joint Arab and Islamic efforts to protect Jerusalem and Islamic and Christian holy sites. He reiterated Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al Khulaifi also held separate meetings with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Felix Plasencia, Democratic Republic of the Congo Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, Spain’s Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs Diego Martinez Belio, and various US officials. The meetings addressed bilateral cooperation relations, regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

Qatar also participated in the 4th High-Level Meeting on the global development agenda. Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad said Qatar supports efforts to accelerate implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The meeting addressed development financing, food security, climate change, energy security, and the role of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in development.

Qatar also hosted a high-level event aimed at accelerating global action on autism. The event examined the rights of people with autism and their families, early diagnosis, health, education, employment and social inclusion. The work of the Global Autism Alliance over the past year was also reviewed, while the use of technology and artificial intelligence in autism services and the development of international cooperation were discussed.

In addition, Qatar participated in the ministerial-level event titled “Shaping the Next 25 Years: Advancing Women’s Leadership in Peace and Security,” aimed at strengthening the role of women in peace and security processes. Sheikha Hanouf bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Director of the International Organizations Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the role of women in conflict prevention, resolution and the building of sustainable peace.
