Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tajani reacted in a social media post to the attack on Matilde Siracusano, a lawmaker from the ruling Forza Italia party.

Tajani described the attack on Siracusano as “crude and unacceptable,” saying it demonstrated the lack of political substance of those responsible for it.

Criticizing the alteration of a photograph to humiliate a political opponent, Tajani said such a method is offensive to those who advocate respect for the rules. Tajani described the situation as “the classic example of someone who preaches morality but lacks it.”
