In a statement, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it welcomed the statement issued by Security Council members on August 7 condemning Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia since July 13 and attacks on commercial vessels since July 22.

The statement welcomed the emphasis on the importance of complying with international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216, and said Qatar rejected actions that threaten regional security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The statement said Qatar stands in “full solidarity” with Saudi Arabia and supports all measures taken by the country to protect its sovereignty and security. It also stated, “The security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of the security of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council states.”
