Rangel: Mediation is not neutrality
Lisbon, June 1 (Hibya) - Portugal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared the country's approach to mediation and international security during the United Nations (UN) Group of Friends of Mediation meeting.
Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel spoke at the UN Group of Friends of Mediation meeting.
In his speech, Rangel stated that “Mediation is not neutrality,” emphasizing that no distinction should be made between conflicts within the United Nations Security Council.
The statement also highlighted that, as part of Portugal's candidacy for the United Nations Security Council, the country has decades of mediation experience and has contributed to peacekeeping operations with more than 20,000 troops. It added that Portugal will always play the role of a bridge-builder.
