Russell: No regulation allowing child marriage is acceptable
New York, May 27 (Hibya) - United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Executive Director Catherine Russell stated regarding the latest decree in Afghanistan, “No regulation that gives the impression of permitting child marriage or interprets girls’ silence as consent is acceptable.”
UNICEF Executive Director Russell announced that they are deeply concerned about the latest decree issued by the de facto administration in Afghanistan.
Russell stated that any regulation that creates the impression of allowing child marriages or interprets girls’ silence as consent is unacceptable.
