Russia announces changes in nuclear weapons policy
Moscow, September 2 (Hibya) - The Russian government has announced plans to change its policy on the use of nuclear weapons.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a statement to Russian media that the policy would be adjusted due to the West's intervention in the Ukraine war.
Accordingly, Russia can use nuclear weapons only if it is attacked with nuclear weapons or other weapons that threaten the existence of the state.
Lavrov said that the West's intervention by providing weapons to Ukrainians and agreeing to their use within Russia's borders has led to the escalation of the conflict. Lavrov said that work on changing the policy is well underway.
