Starmer: We share the pain of the Jewish people, our fight against antisemitism will continue
London, April 13 (Hibya) - United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer commemorated the six million Jews who lost their lives in the Holocaust on Yom HaShoah and reaffirmed his commitment to protecting Jewish communities amid rising antisemitism.
Prime Minister Starmer stated in his Yom HaShoah message that they remember the six million Jews killed in the Holocaust and share the deep pain and concern experienced by Jewish communities.
Highlighting the rise in antisemitic attacks and threats today, Starmer said, “Overseas conflicts, domestic pressures, and uncertainty about the future create a heavy burden. This is compounded by a troubling increase in attacks and terror plots targeting Jewish communities across the country.”
Starmer emphasized that his government will not compromise on protecting Jewish communities and combating antisemitism, stating, “My government will act decisively to protect Jewish communities and eradicate antisemitism wherever it appears. We will not hesitate, we will not look away.”
He also noted that commemorating the Holocaust is not only about remembering the past but also about taking responsibility today, saying, “We must ensure that ‘Never Again’ is not just a promise, but a duty that must be fulfilled.”
