Sybiha met with his Bahraini counterpart Al Zayani
Kyiv, May 5 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced during his meeting with his Bahraini counterpart that an embassy will be opened in Manama and that relations between the two countries will be strengthened.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a bilateral meeting with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani within the framework of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Bahrain.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to further deepen bilateral relations that gained momentum after Bahrain’s first ministerial visit to Ukraine in 2023.
Ukraine’s decision to open an embassy in Bahrain’s capital Manama was announced, and a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries’ foreign ministries was signed. It was noted that these steps elevate relations to a more institutional and structured partnership.
Regional security issues were also discussed during the meeting. Ukraine expressed its solidarity with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries against Iran’s destabilizing activities.
It was emphasized that developments around the Strait of Hormuz are critical for global energy security, highlighting the importance of maintaining freedom of navigation.
The parties also agreed to expand cooperation in enhancing coordination within international organizations and strengthening food security and supply chains.
