Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said he welcomed the European Union’s (EU) decision to impose sanctions on 10 individuals and 17 entities linked to Russia’s deportation, forced assimilation and militarization of Ukrainian children.

Sybiha said in a statement on social media that everyone involved in the forced removal of Ukrainian children and attempts to erase their Ukrainian identity must face the consequences.

Sybiha said that no individual, institution or country helping Russia carry out these actions should escape accountability and thanked the EU and its member states for the decision.

Sybiha said they would continue working together to bring all Ukrainian children back to their country and hold those responsible accountable.
