Sybiha: We want Europe-wide condemnation of this act of state banditry and extortion
Kyiv, March 8 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha described the seizure of two armored vehicles belonging to Ukraine’s state bank Oschadbank by Hungarian authorities and the theft of the cash and precious metals inside them as “state banditry.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made a statement regarding the incident carried out by Hungarian authorities.
Pointing out that three days have passed since the incident and the money has still not been returned, Sybiha said: “Today marks three days since Hungarian authorities robbed two Ukrainian armored banking vehicles transiting from Austria and stole cash and precious metals in broad daylight.”
Sybiha emphasized that the money does not belong to Hungary, stating: “This money does not belong to Hungary or its government; it belongs to Ukraine’s state bank ‘Oschadbank’ and therefore to Ukrainian taxpayers.”
Sybiha concluded his statement by saying: “We demand their immediate return and want Europe-wide condemnation of this unprecedented act of state banditry and extortion. I encourage all our European partners to raise their voices.”
