Tajani: I have decided to cancel my visit to the United States
Rome, June 19 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced that he has decided to cancel his official visit to Washington planned for June 21-22, reacting to remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump about Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
Referring to the recent diplomatic tensions between the United States and Italy and Trump's criticism of the government in Rome, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani stated that targeting his country's national honor and Prime Minister Meloni was unacceptable.
Explaining the reason for his decision, Tajani said: "President Trump's serious and offensive remarks about Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni have hurt all of Italy. Therefore, I have decided to cancel my visit to the United States scheduled for June 21 and 22."
