US President Donald Trump addressed world leaders and the business community at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, outlining his first year in office and his vision for the future. Trump said they had reversed the “stagflation” inherited from the Biden administration, highlighting achievements gained through tax cuts, massive reductions in public spending and tariff policies.

Stating that they had delivered the greatest economic transformation in American history, Trump said:

“We carried out the greatest economic transformation in American history, and under the Biden administration America was truly facing stagflation — low growth and high inflation, which is like a recipe for failure. But after just one year of my policies, we are seeing the exact opposite; we can almost say there is no inflation. We are talking about incredible economic growth. I believe you will see very soon that we will reach levels no country has ever reached before. In the last three months, inflation was 1.3 percent and growth reached 5.4 percent — a figure very few people besides me predicted. American stock markets set 52 records; imagine, all of this in just one year.”

Touching on social welfare and investments in addition to economic data, Trump said: “Since I became president, we have enabled 1 million 209 thousand people to get off food assistance. We reached 18 trillion dollars, and when the latest figures come in, investments coming into our country will reach 20 trillion dollars; there is nothing like this in history.”

Criticizing Europe’s current economic model, Trump said: “Many places in Europe are unrecognizable. I love Europe and want it to do well, but it is not on the right path. We carried out the largest reduction in public employees since World War II. Within one year, we cut the public budget by 27 percent. We ended the record spending of the Biden era. I repealed more than 120 regulations. We eliminated taxes on tips and social security. Through tariffs, we also closed our constantly growing trade deficit. We managed to reduce our monthly trade deficit by 77 percent without causing inflation.”

Referring to Greenland’s strategic importance, Trump said regarding the issue of purchasing the island: “We protected Greenland and prevented our enemies from even setting foot there. If it were not for us, you would all be speaking German and a little Japanese. After the war, we returned Greenland to Denmark. Now both our country and the world face greater risks than ever before. Greenland is an extremely key and strategic point that is absolutely undefended. We do not want it for minerals; that is not the reason. We need it for strategic national security.”

Emphasizing that he would not use force regarding Greenland, Trump added: “They think I will use force; no, I will not. America only wants a place called Greenland. It was already in our hands, but out of respect we gave it to Denmark. I respect the people of Greenland; their leaders are truly very good. Only the US can protect this massive piece of ice. I say that negotiations should be reopened regarding Greenland being purchased by the US.”
